Sot’ La Mer
Heloise dreams of returning to her old house in the mountains of Reunion Island, where her father, now dead, planted seven orange trees on the day of her birth. He himself convinced her to go back there, after visiting her in a dream. Single mother of six children, victim of a violent husband, after a life on the margins of a society unable to hide the legacies of its colonial past, Heloise dreams of returning to the lands of her ancestors, the ancient maroon slaves who once rebelled against their slave masters.
